Deep tissue works slowly and firmly into the layers beneath the surface muscle. The therapist targets specific knots and adhesions rather than covering the whole body evenly.
Tell the therapist exactly where the problem is — a particular shoulder, the lower back, one side of the neck. Pressure is firm but should never cross into pain; say so immediately if it does.
Some tenderness for a day afterwards is normal. Drink water and avoid heavy training the same evening.
